Located at the foot of the majestic Pic du Midi de Bigorre, La Mongie is the high-altitude gateway to the Grand Tourmalet, the largest ski area in the French Pyrenees. A true "ski-in/ski-out" resort perched at 1800 meters, it offers a striking contrast to its neighbor Barèges: here, the atmosphere is sporty, modern, and convenient, with immediate access to the peaks.

The Giant of the Pyrenees (100 km of Slopes): The ski area spans 100 km of slopes connecting both sides of the Tourmalet Pass. Diversity is key: on the La Mongie side, skiing is panoramic and sunny, perfect for carving on wide open boulevards. On the Barèges side, you glide through the pine trees of the Lienz forest, ideal for snowy days or beginners looking for gentle runs. Families love the Marmottes route, a long green run crossing the domain, while experts find their thrill on the technical slopes of Quatre Termes (2500m). The area is served by an efficient lift network (30 lifts), keeping wait times to a minimum.

Pic du Midi: The Freeride Paradise: Towering over the resort is the Pic du Midi (2877m). Accessible by cable car, it is a unique sightseeing spot (the best view in the Pyrenees), but for skiers, it is legendary: a 100% Freeride zone, ungroomed and unpatrolled. It is the "Mecca" of Pyrenean off-piste skiing, reserved for expert skiers, offering a wild 1700m vertical drop.

Après-Ski & Exploration: While La Mongie is the temple of alpine skiing, it also offers escapes into nature. For cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in a magical setting, head to the Lienz plateau or the stunning Payolle lake area (known as "Little Canada"), located nearby. In the evening, the resort comes alive with mountain restaurants and the magical experience of spending a night at the summit of the Pic du Midi.

J’aime bien cette station elle est grande et la descente avec la vue sur le pic est top ! Mais il y a trop de monde au remontée mécanique en haute saison !
