The cradle of French skiing since 1878 and a highlight of the 1968 Winter Olympics, Chamrousse stands as an essential mountain destination at the gates of Grenoble, just 30 kilometers from the Capital of the Alps and 1.5 hours from Lyon. Perched between 1,400 and 2,250 meters altitude on the tip of the Belledonne massif, the resort offers exceptional proximity to an exceptional natural environment at the entrance to the High Alps. Chamrousse Mountain Park unfolds as a multi-activity destination for winter and summer, offering XXL mountain experiences for all levels and ages.
For alpine skiing, the Chamrousse Alpine Park area offers 90 kilometers of slopes spread across 41 runs of all levels, with 5 green runs, 15 blue runs, 15 red runs and 6 black runs. The optimal altitude between 1,400 and 2,250 meters guarantees abundant and quality snow coverage throughout the season, supplemented by over 51 hectares of snowmaking. The 850-meter vertical offers long and varied descents. The resort features four distinct sectors allowing each level to find satisfaction: Chamrousse 1700 dedicated to beginners with the Family Park "la Montagne de Téo", Chamrousse 1650 Roche-Béranger for intermediate skiers, and Chamrousse 1650 Recoin for experts with direct access to the Croix cable car connecting to the 2,250m summit. The alpine area is served by 15 ski lifts including 1 detachable Croix cable car, 5 chairlifts including 2 detachable, 7 drag lifts, and 2 covered magic carpets (Hansel and Gretel), ensuring smooth access even at peak season.
For cross-country skiing, the Nordic Park area on the Arselle Plateau (Chamrousse 1600) offers 42 kilometers of trails groomed for both classic and skating techniques, spread across 9 marked routes. The trails offer great diversity with short initiation loops, intermediate connections and sporting routes including a spectacular Nordic boardercross. All trails are groomed daily and secured, winding through a fairytale wooded landscape with small-Canada appeal and the Taillefer massif in the backdrop.
The resort offers a wealth of complementary winter activities: 17 kilometers of marked snowshoe trails offering family and sporting itineraries on the Arselle Plateau; 6 kilometers of groomed pedestrian trails for winter walks; 3 kilometers of toboggan trails for horse-drawn sleigh or dog sledding; 1 groomed toboggan run with free access luge area for children; snowmobile with guided outings day and evening; ski touring on marked route toward Croix summit (starting from Bachat-Bouloud); 1 snowpark; fatbike rental; ice and snow driving; night skiing on the Arcs slopes; and other unique activities (biathlon, yooner, dog sledding). In summer, the resort transforms into a playground with a 21-kilometer bike park, a giant zipline Adrenaline Park, a mountain kart Deval' Park, a rail luge Luge Coaster, and a Himalayan bridge at Panoramic Park.
A historic resort with authentic charm combining modern facilities, easy access from Grenoble and Lyon, varied ski area offering exceptional panoramic experiences, and unparalleled diversity of winter and summer activities, Chamrousse represents a complete destination for unforgettable mountain vacations in all seasons, with warm and welcoming Isère-style atmosphere.
