Vars belongs to the domain La Forêt Blanche which also includes Risoul.

Situated in the heart of the Hautes Alpes at 1850 m in altitude, VARS is one of the favourite resorts of the Alpes du Sud.
Four lively villages are the center of the resort's activity : St Marcellin, the old village, the 'history' of the commune; St Marie, where the first ski lifts were installed; St Catherine, little hamlet on the mountain side, south-facing; Claux, heart of the resort, mingling together the spirit of the old villages and the modern facilities of a large winter resort.
