The ski resort Argentière belongs to the domain
MONT-BLANC Natural Resort which also includes
Chamonix Mont-Blanc,
Les Houches and
Vallorcine.
Nestled at the foot of the Argentière Glacier and the mythical Aiguille Verte, Argentière embodies the very essence of high alpine mountaineering. Between 1,235 and 3,300 meters altitude, this legendary valley saw the birth of Europe's greatest mountain guides and remains the beating heart of extreme skiing and world-class freeride. A village with deep alpinist roots, its remarkable baroque charm of the 18th century (church built during harsh winters isolated from Chamonix) coexists harmoniously with the modernity of the Grands Montets domain.
For alpine skiing, the Grands Montets domain offers 29 kilometers of slopes traced above 2,000 meters altitude for the majority, with portions on the Glacier des Rognons. 27 runs distributed by level offer natural progression: gentle forest slopes perfect for beginners and families, then intermediate runs of Lognan plateau, then vertiginous descents and glacier skiing from Aiguille des Grands Montets (2,980m). The exceptional vertical exceeds 2,065 meters—among Europe's greatest—creating long-duration descents with incomparable views of Mont-Blanc massif and Aiguilles Verte, Dru and Chardonnet.
7 modern ski lifts provide rapid access: 2 cable cars (including glacier access), 1 Plan Joran aerial cabin (10 seats), 2 chairlifts (La Herse 6-seater modern), and 2 drag lifts at Chosalets. Major 2026 novelty: a new Argentière-Lognan aerial cabin (10 seats) and an ultra-modern 3S cable car designed by Renzo Piano will reach Aiguille des Grands Montets (3,295m), revolutionizing high-altitude access and creating a panoramic pathway to the summit.
37 kilometers of snowmaking-covered slopes guarantee optimal snow coverage, with 1 fun snowpark zone for children and beginners, and groomed toboggan runs.
For cross-country skiing, Argentière offers 15 kilometers of Nordic trails in classic and skating: the red "Moraine" trail (8.5 km, technical), blue "Chosalets" (3 km), and green "Iles" (1.3 km).
A mountaineering and mountain culture village, Argentière offers legendary hikes (Lac Blanc with Mont-Blanc view, Petit Balcon Sud to Chamonix), Le Tour hamlet (17th-18th century farms), world alpinist heritage. Specialized ESF Argentière ski school offers advanced freeride, glacier skiing and high mountaineering.
